What is a Credit Union? |
A credit union is a financial cooperative owned by its
shareholder-members, each of which is entitled to one vote at the Credit
Union's annual meeting to elect members of the Board of Directors.
It is not a bank. There are
no stockholders to pay. All earnings remaining after
operating expenses are
paid and reserves are set aside and returned to members in the
form of dividends.

History Of Huntingdon County Federal Credit Union |
|
The Credit Union was chartered in May, 1945 by
hard-working volunteers who were employees of Owens-Corning
Fiberglas, the sponsoring company. It retained the name Fiberglas
Huntingdon Federal Credit Union (FHFCU) until 2001 when the
Standing Stone Federal Credit Union, sponsored by Mead Products,
merged with the FHFCU. The new name Huntingdon County Federal
Credit Union was selected at that time to better identify with its
growing membership throughout Huntingdon County. Entering its 65th
year of continuing financial service to the community in 2010, the
Credit Union's membership includes 21 select employee groups (SEG)
and 2,600 active members. |
